Angel Food “SNAC” (Serving Nutrition to Area Children) Program
Starting in November 2018, we began working with Catholic Charities to bring the Angel Food “SNAC” Program to our local community. This program is designed to address chronic hunger among elementary school-age children within the Diocese. It provides nutritious food to children who might not otherwise have adequate food over the weekend. Each meal contains child-friendly, nutritious, shelf-stable food including two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, two snacks, and four beverages. Fresh fruit will be supplemented when available. Catholic Charities provides the food to us ready to go in Ziploc bags. We then distribute it to families who have school-age children each Friday afternoon.
If you know a family that could benefit from this program or if you would like to volunteer to help distribute food once per week on Friday afternoon, please call the office and give us contact information for the family or your name and phone number if you want to volunteer. Deacon Bill Hobby will call you back.
Thank you for considering this ministry as a volunteer to help bring food to these children.
