The Diocese of Palm Beach offers a series of adult bible studies through the Diocesan School of Christian Formation. The complete study program is a series of twelve, 6-week classes over a 3-year period. The first year of the program has four classes: (1) Introduction to the Bible, (2) Old Testament, (3) New Testament, (4) Christology (the nature and work of Christ). St. Mark the Evangelist is pleased to announce the first class, Introduction to the Bible, will be offered in the parish beginning August 6, 2019 and ending September 10, 2019. Classes will be held in the Social Hall.
Classes will meet every Tuesday for six weeks. Participants may choose to attend either the 10:00 a.m. to noon session with Fr. Edwin or the 7:00 – 9:00 pm session with Deacon Bill. The class will focus on a basic introduction to the sacred texts, how the Church reads scripture, basic structure of the texts, dates and places and authorship, literary genres and traditions, inspiration of the sacred texts and using the Bible as a means of prayer.
A minimal fee of $10 plus the cost of 2 text books (approximately $35 total) is required (payable to the Diocese of Palm Beach). The remaining first-year classes are planned to follow this introductory course. Official registration and payment will occur at the first class meeting.
