The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
What is Grief? Does everyone experience grief? What’s the big deal?
Are these questions that you asked yourself in the past? According to the
APA Dictionary of Psychology, grief is the anguish experienced after significant loss, usually the death of a beloved person. Grief can also be a
regret for something lost (pet or job), remorse for something done or sorrow for a mishap to oneself.
Many live with unresolved grief. Many have stuffed their emotions down deep into their
being. This unresolved grief will eventually surface in one way or the other. Some signs of unresolved grief include physiological distress, separation anxiety, confusion, yearning, obsessive
dwelling on the past, and apprehension about the future. Sound familiar? Maybe you are just not
sure. Here at St. Mark’s we have an ongoing grief group. It is an open discussion format led by
Nurse Barb RN, MSN. This group offers an outlet to express your feelings and to learn tools to
help you work your way through grief. Come give it a try…even if it’s been years since your loss.
You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. Come listen and learn. There is hope ahead. Please
check the church bulletin for dates and time. Give Nurse Barb a call at 772-359-8369 if you have
any questions.
Peace, Nurse Barb
