May the Month of Mary
The month of May celebrates Mary, the Mother of our Lord. We show our love and faith as Catholics to the Queen of Heaven. Many parishes and schools will celebrate with a “May Crowning” (typically the first Sunday in May) by crowning her statue with a wreath of flowers.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Catholic church and is our guide for all of us seeking to be servants of God. “Without Mary giving birth to Jesus, all the events that followed: Jesus’ life, death and resurrection would not have happened. So, it is believed that May (when nature is showing signs of life) is the ideal month to honor the woman who gave life to our Savior.”
