St Mark Welcomes Back Father Edwin
As you already know, our bishop has assigned Fr. Edwin, as our new parochial administrator, effective July 1. Here is some biographical information on our new parochial administrator. Fr. Edwin was born on May 10, 1977, in Aroor, Alappuzha District, Kerala, State, India, to a family of three sisters and three brothers. He joined the Carmelite seminary in 1992. He professed his vows to the Carmelite Order in February 1997. He received a Bachelorate in Theology (B.Th.) from Jyotir Bhavan Institution at Kalsamassery, Kerala, in 2004. He was ordained a priest in December 30, 2004, at the Carmelite House of Theology at Manjummel, Kerala. He went on to get an M.H.A. degree (Master in Health Care Administration) in 2006 from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. In 2010 he received an M.Sc in Applied Psychology.
His pastoral experience as a priest began in 2005 at Avila Sadan Monastery, Karaparabu, diocese of Kannur, where he was assigned to a local parish. From 2006-08 he was the assistant director of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Manjum-mel and Chaplain; from 2008-11 the Associate Director of St. Joseph Hospital; from 2011-15 the Director of St. Joseph’s Hospital and priest-in-charge of St. Pius X Church, diocese of Varapoly. From 2015 to 2016, he was the Director of Fathima Engg Works, a Technical Job Center and Workshop. In August of 2016 he came to the U.S.A. to be the parochial vicar at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, West Palm Beach. Our bishop handed Holy Name Parish over to the pastoral care and administration of the Indian Carmelites at that time. He served as our parochial vicar here at St. Mark from July 2017-2021.
